O-RINGS
Industrial O-Rings for Reliable Sealing Applications
O-rings are circular elastomer seals designed to provide reliable sealing between two mating surfaces. At ATC Rubber, we manufacture O-rings using NBR, EPDM, Silicone, Viton® (FKM), PTFE, and Polyurethane (PU) materials, selected according to the operating environment, media compatibility, and temperature requirements.
In addition to standard sizes, we manufacture custom O-rings in virtually any diameter and tolerance based on customer drawings or specifications. Our products are engineered to deliver long service life and reliable sealing performance in both static and dynamic applications.
Rubber O-rings are widely used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as in the automotive, machinery, food processing, chemical, and defense industries.
ATC Rubber manufactures custom O-rings in NBR, EPDM, Silicone, FKM (Viton®), PU and PTFE materials for hydraulic, pneumatic, automotive and industrial sealing applications.
Factors to Consider When Selecting an O-Ring
- Operating Temperature
- System Pressure
- Media / Chemical Compatibility
- Static or Dynamic Application
NBR O-Rings (Nitrile Rubber)

NBR (Nitrile Rubber) O-rings operate reliably within a temperature range of -30°C to +100°C and are particularly suitable for applications involving oils, greases, fuels, and hydraulic fluids. They are widely used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, automotive components, and industrial machinery.
EPDM O-Rings

EPDM O-rings provide excellent resistance to hot water, steam, ozone, UV exposure, and weathering. With an operating temperature range of -40°C to +130°C, they are commonly used in HVAC systems, water treatment equipment, plumbing systems, and outdoor sealing applications.
Silicone O-Rings

Silicone O-rings maintain excellent flexibility across a wide temperature range from -60°C to +200°C. Their odorless, hygienic, and food-safe properties make them ideal for food processing, medical equipment, pharmaceutical, and electronic applications.
FKM (Viton®) O-Rings

FKM (Viton®) O-rings offer exceptional resistance to high temperatures, fuels, aggressive chemicals, and industrial fluids. Capable of operating at temperatures up to +200°C, they are widely used in chemical processing, automotive, fuel systems, aerospace, and demanding industrial environments.
Polyurethane (PU) O-Rings

Polyurethane (PU) O-rings provide outstanding resistance to abrasion, tearing, and mechanical wear. Their excellent load-bearing capacity makes them particularly suitable for high-pressure dynamic sealing applications and heavy-duty industrial equipment.
O-Ring Cord (Cord Stock O-Rings)

O-ring cord is the ideal solution for manufacturing large-diameter or custom-sized O-rings that are not available in standard dimensions. The cord stock is cut and joined to the required length, providing a fast and cost-effective sealing solution for large equipment and special applications.
O-Rings | Industrial O-Ring Sealing Solutions
An O-ring is a sealing element with a circular (round) elastomer cross-section. Positioned between two surfaces under a specific amount of compression, it helps prevent the passage of liquids, gases, and other fluids. Thanks to their simple design, wide range of material options, and broad range of applications, O-ring seals are widely used in industrial sealing applications.
O-rings can be used in both static and dynamic sealing applications. When selecting the right O-ring, factors such as operating temperature, pressure, the fluid or chemical it will contact, movement conditions, and the properties of the elastomer material used should be evaluated together with the product’s dimensions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are O-rings used?
O-rings are used in many industrial sealing applications to prevent the leakage of liquids and gases. They are widely preferred in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, valves, compressors, motors, automotive systems, HVAC equipment, and various machine components. Depending on the application, different materials such as NBR, EPDM, silicone, FKM/Viton, and polyurethane can be selected.
What is the difference between NBR and EPDM O-rings?
NBR and EPDM O-rings are elastomers suited to different operating conditions. NBR O-rings are widely preferred in applications involving contact with oil, grease, and fuel, while EPDM O-rings offer better resistance to water, hot water, steam, ozone, and outdoor conditions. For this reason, material selection should be made according to the fluid the O-ring will contact and its operating environment.
How is O-ring size determined?
O-ring size is primarily determined by the inner diameter (ID) and cross-section diameter (CS). In addition, the groove the O-ring will be installed in, the mounting method, and whether the application is static or dynamic should also be evaluated. International standards such as ISO 3601 can be used for standard O-ring sizes. For custom applications, the appropriate O-ring size can be determined based on technical drawings, an existing sample, or dimensional information.
What hardness levels can O-rings be manufactured in?
O-rings can be manufactured in different Shore A hardness levels depending on the application and the elastomer material selected. While O-rings with a hardness of 70 Shore A are commonly used, softer or harder materials may be preferred depending on the sealing, pressure, deformation, and operating conditions required by the application. The correct hardness should be determined by evaluating the system the O-ring will be used in, the operating conditions, and the mounting characteristics.
